Within the framework of the ORIUNITE project, an intensive international training dedicated to using orienteering as a tool for peacebuilding and strengthening intercultural dialogue was held in Zagreb from November 21 to 23, 2025. This significant event was hosted by the Croatian Orienteering Federation and brought together partners from Cyprus, Italy, Hungary, Germany, Croatia, as well as representatives of Bosnia and Herzegovina from the Sport and Recreation Federation of FBiH (SZSR). The three-day program successfully combined theoretical foundations with practical urban orienteering sessions across the city.

During the training, the team from Bosnia and Herzegovina played a prominent role by leading, alongside colleagues from Italy, interactive workshops focused on public awareness and media promotion strategies for the project’s goals. Participants had the opportunity to learn from concrete examples, such as a presentation on the role of sport in reconciliation within the divided city of Nicosia, as well as technical and inclusive orienteering strategies presented by the Hungarian and Croatian teams. The final part of the training was dedicated to creating Local Action Plans, which form the foundation for implementing the project in local environments through school workshops, cultural exchanges, and inclusive sports events.

Special emphasis was placed on launching the production process for the ORIUNITE documentary film, which aims to provide visibility to the transformative role of sport in connecting communities. The team from Impact Wave Communication presented the vision and technical guidelines that will ensure the professional documentation of all upcoming local activities. The conclusion of the training in Zagreb marked the project’s transition into the implementation phase, during which SZSR and other partners will organize their own orienteering events as key moments for promoting peace and unity.
