Successfully Implemented Local Activity of the ORIUNITE Project in Sarajevo

The Sport and Recreation Federation of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (SZSFR FBiH) successfully organized a local activity on March 7, 2026, within the framework of the international project ORIUNITE: Orienteering, Uniting Nations in Interactive Team Efforts. The event, held in Sarajevo, gathered 42 young participants from diverse social and cultural backgrounds.

The main goal of this initiative was to promote social inclusion, youth cooperation, and peacebuilding through sport, using orienteering as an innovative and engaging tool. By combining physical activity with non-formal education methods, a dynamic environment was created where young people had the opportunity to learn, cooperate, and connect.

Promoting Collaboration and Reflection

The activity began with an introductory session where participants were introduced to the goals of the ORIUNITE project and the importance of sport in fostering mutual understanding, tolerance, and reconciliation. This was followed by practical orienteering exercises, where young people solved navigational tasks and problems in teams. This approach encouraged communication, teamwork, and trust, allowing participants to step out of their comfort zones and actively engage with others. The inclusive working model ensured that everyone present, including youth with fewer opportunities, contributed equally and felt valued throughout the process.

In addition to the physical component, the event included interactive discussions and reflection sessions where participants exchanged perspectives on values such as empathy, respect, and cooperation.

The implementation of the activity was supported by the local partner, Randori Sarajevo, whose expertise in youth work significantly contributed to the quality and impact of the event. The ultimate result was increased awareness of equality, enhanced teamwork skills, and a stronger understanding of sport as a key driver of positive social change and the building of more cohesive communities.
