ORIUNITE in Bihać: New Energy, Nature, and Teamwork Connecting Youth

The ORIUNITE project continues its mission of connecting youth through innovative sports methods, and this time the center of action was the beautiful city of Bihać. Organized by the Association “Network of Non-Formal Education” (UMNO), two interactive workshops were held in March 2026 (March 11 and 18), gathering 45 enthusiastic young people ready to explore the power of orienteering.

The goal of these workshops was to present the ORIUNITE concept, “Orienteering, Uniting Nations in Interactive Team Efforts,” not only as a sports discipline but also as a powerful educational tool. Through discussions and practical examples, the participants discovered how navigating nature, solving navigational challenges, and making collective decisions directly strengthen leadership skills, team spirit, and intercultural dialogue.

The workshops generated highly positive feedback and inspired the attendees:

Sandi Bašanović shared a similar view, noting he was particularly thrilled by the idea of using navigation to develop leadership skills. Meanwhile, Ajna Abdijanović highlighted that the ORIUNITE project is distinct and motivating because it encourages young people to cooperate and explore new skills.

Building Bridges Through Sport

In addition to learning the technical aspects of orientation, the workshops in Bihać created a new group of motivated young people who see sport as a means for positive change in their community.

The successful implementation of these activities in the Krajina region confirms once again that the blend of nature, movement, and cooperation knows no borders. Bihać has shown it is ready for future ORIUNITE challenges, and we proudly continue to build bridges of trust and friendship through sport.
